Accessibility
Last updated: September 2026
SEND Family wants this website and its educational resources to be as clear, usable and accessible as reasonably possible.
We recognise that people access information in different ways and may have different needs when reading, navigating or interacting with a website.
1. Our approach
We aim to design SEND Family with accessibility in mind, including:
- clear language and straightforward navigation;
- readable text sizes and spacing;
- strong colour contrast;
- meaningful heading structures;
- keyboard-friendly navigation where possible;
- descriptive alternative text for meaningful images;
- layouts that work across desktop, tablet and mobile devices;
- avoiding unnecessary animation, visual clutter or distracting effects.
We also aim to make our guides and educational materials easy to understand and practical to use.
2. Using this website
Most modern browsers allow you to
- increase or decrease text size;
- zoom the page;
- change contrast or display settings;
- use keyboard navigation;
- use screen-reading or other assistive technologies.
Your browser or device accessibility settings may provide additional options.
3. Accessibility of documents and resources
SEND Family may provide downloadable guides, PDFs, worksheets and other educational resources.
We aim to make these materials as accessible and readable as reasonably possible.
However, some documents or third-party materials may not yet meet every accessibility requirement.
If you experience difficulty accessing a SEND Family resource, please contact us and we will try to provide the information in a more suitable format where reasonably possible.
4. Third-party services
Some parts of the SEND Family experience may rely on third-party services, such as booking platforms, forms, video services or external websites.
We do not control the accessibility of third-party websites or platforms, but we aim to choose services that provide a reasonable user experience.
5. Continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing process.
We expect to review and improve the SEND Family website and resources over time as the service develops, technology changes and we receive feedback from families and organisations.
6. Tell us if you experience a problem
If you find part of the SEND Family website difficult to use or access, please tell us.
It is particularly helpful if you can explain:
- which page or resource you were using;
- what difficulty you experienced;
- what device, browser or assistive technology you were using, if relevant.

We will consider the issue and, where reasonably possible, look for a practical way to improve access or provide the information differently.
